Esteban Taronjí

(1909-1986)

He was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, on December 31, 1909. As a member of a wealth-to-do family, he began to take piano and singing lessons in the seminary, where he studied for 4 years. After leaving the seminary, he performed a number of jobs, including composition. His first composition was recorded in 1934. His song Cataclismo was made popular by Mexican singer Javier Solís. He died on March 16, 1986 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
