Alvaro Carrillo

(1921-1969)

This Mexican composer was born in Cacahuatepec, Oaxaca, on December 2 ,1921. In 1945, he graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Agricultura in Chapingo  with a degree in Agricultural Engineering, and then moved to Mexico City to work for the government. Through his friendship with Antonio Pérez Mesa, member of the Trio Los Duendes, he got the trio to record one of his songs "Amor mío", which became a great hit that made him abandon his career for music. His life ended in a terrible accident on April 3, 1969.

"Yo soy un humilde
cancionero y
contarte quiero,
una historia
humana."
Alvaro Carrillo
